The blanket that stays put: sleep soundly all night long

When sleeping next to someone restless — Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, night-time agitation or simply very active sleep — a blanket sliding to the floor is a recurring problem. Every night, you have to get up, pick up the blanket and put it back. The magnetic blanket clip puts an end to this exhausting cycle: it holds the blanket firmly to the mattress without damaging the fabric.

The system is simple: two magnetic fastening clips attach to each side of the bed, holding the blanket in place while allowing the person to move freely. Rated 4.0/5, this small accessory radically improves sleep quality — for both the restless person and their partner.

Your loved one has Alzheimer’s or cognitive disorders

Night-time agitation is a common symptom of neurodegenerative diseases. Constant movements cause the blanket to slip, and the feeling of cold can worsen anxiety and wandering. The magnetic clip maintains a constant temperature and prevents cold-related waking. It contributes to a calmer, safer sleep environment.

Your partner has Parkinson’s

The involuntary movements associated with Parkinson’s, particularly nocturnal dyskinesia, shift the bedding. The result: the blanket ends up on the floor and sleep is interrupted. The magnetic clip absorbs these movements without resistance, keeping the blanket in place without restricting freedom of movement.

You’re a carer sleeping next to them

When you share a bed with a restless person, you also suffer the consequences: night-time waking to fix the blanket, arguments over bedding, accumulated fatigue. This blanket clip also protects your sleep. By keeping the blanket on the restless side, it prevents it from sliding over to your side or uncovering you.

Pros and cons

✅ Pros

  • Powerful magnetic fastening, doesn’t come undone during the night
  • Installs in 30 seconds without tools, removes just as quickly
  • Compatible with all types of blankets and mattresses
  • Doesn’t damage fabric — clips are rubber-coated
  • Allows natural movement while keeping the blanket in place
  • Set of 2: one for each side of the bed

⚠️ Things to note

  • Not suitable for beds without a mattress (very thin futons)
  • Magnets may interfere with pacemaker wearers — consult a doctor

Our verdict on the magnetic blanket clip

This is one of my favourite accessories for improving sleep for restless people and their carers. For under £17, it solves a problem that ruins thousands of nights. I particularly recommend it for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, where night-time agitation is a real source of exhaustion for couples. Quick tip: for very thick blankets, check the clip is properly engaged by giving it a gentle tug before going to bed.

Give yourself (and your loved one) peaceful nights at last

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the magnets dangerous for health?

The magnets used are standard permanent magnets (neodymium), safe for the majority of users. However, if you or your loved one wears a pacemaker, defibrillator or any other implanted medical device, consult your doctor before use. Strong magnetic fields can interfere with these devices.

Does the clip work with all bed types?

It is designed for standard mattresses (15-30 cm thick). On a very thin futon ( 35 cm), check the strap is long enough to go around.

Can you still move freely with the clip?

Yes, that’s exactly the advantage of the system. The fastening is at mattress level, not on the person. The blanket stays in place but you can turn over, sit up or get out of bed without any hindrance. The blanket naturally follows movements without sliding off completely.
